Uiscw Éireann crews are working to repair a significant burst on a water main in Westport which is affecting supply to approximately 1,000 homes and businesses in the town.
Customers in the areas of Castlebar Street, the Newport Road, Carraholly, Slogger, Attireesh, Carrowbeg, Horkan’s Hill and surrounding areas may be experiencing some disruption to their supply this morning as a result of this unplanned outage.
Crews are on site working to isolate and repair the leak. Repairs are expected to be completed by approximately 6 p.m. this evening (Sunday).

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
John Mullarkey of Uisce Éireann has assured affected customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” John said.
