Cosy Joe's Bar in Westport is celebrating 30 years in business.
Cosy Joe’s Bar in Westport has announced that it will be marking its 30th anniversary with celebrations next weekend. Established in 1995, the iconic public house has made a significant impact on the night scene in Westport, Mayo and the west of Ireland in general.
Joe and Marian O'Malley invite one and all to come along and celebrate with them during some of the upcoming events: Friday, June 6 - Live Music from 8.30pm to 10.30pm with Gary, Ciaran and Mick followed by DJ Ron Rosco; A Caribbean night on the Saturday, June 7 from 8pm with prizes for best dressed and on Sunday, June 8 a Family Day with a barbecue from 3pm.
The proprietor Joe O’Malley started his career in the Halfway House in Islandeady before moving to Westport’s well-known establishment, JJ O’Malley’s. He then moved out on his own and leased Cosy Joe’s Bar on Bridge Street which was initially known as Mickey's (Mickey Kavanagh) which he purchased from the proprietor. Over the years he has developed the premises into a well-known food and drink venue and it was also the first late bar established in Westport.
Joe said: “Our aim was to provide a warm, Westport welcome to all our customers and to offer them exceptional service with first class entertainment, drinks and food. Our friendly, fun team always look forward to welcoming you to Cosy Joe’s Bar.”
The bar, situated right in the heart of Westport town, is the only multi-level bar in the town.
Cosy Joe’s also serves bar food and shows all major sporting events on their multi-screens.
A new food concept will be launched very shortly in Cosy Joe’s - watch this space for more details.
