There was political unity in the MD meeting room of Áras an Chontae on Thursday afternoon as colleagues wished retiring Jim Horan their best wishes.
The Aughagower man is retiring from his role as Administrative Officer, with the Environment, Climate Change and Agriculture section of Mayo County Council.

Cllr Gerry Murray, chairman of the Environment and Climate Change SPC, led the tributes at Jim Horan’s last meeting before retiring. He wanted to wish Jim every success in his retirement and said he will “definitely miss him and appreciated the great service you have given the local authority over the years.” Cllr Murray hopes Horan gets to 100 and “send a few ribbons through Wall Street.”
Cllr Sean Carey joined in wishing Jim well, he said he was always “so helpful and so supportive.” He wished him the very best in his retirement and urged him to enjoy it.
Cllr Donna Sheridan thanked him for all his help, support and kindness and said he was always a gentleman to work with.
Cllr Harry Barrett said Jim was "an absolute gentleman" and so easy to work with. He thanked him for his patience, efforts and hard work over the years.

Director of Services, John Condon, praised Jim Horan for his organisational ability and always keeping everyone in the loop. He said he was always a pleasure to deal with.
