Mayo GAA club award sponsored bursaries to university students

Recipients of Westport GAA's third-level bursaries, sponsored by local company Portwest

Third-level students in Westport GAA have benefited from significant financial support as the club announced the recipients of their unique bursaries sponsored by local Mayo business Portwest.

The unique collaboration between the club and the company will see students receive the bursaries to support both the athletic and academic commitments of those excelling in Gaelic games, both at club and inter-county level.

In total, eleven athletes and club members were selected to receive financial support, in line with criteria from both the Connacht Council and Croke Park.

Harry and Henry Hughes from Portwest made the presentations on behalf of the company at an event in the Westport GAA clubhouse. Michael O’Brien, the club’s chairman, extended his thanks and gratitude to Portwest for their support of the club.

The recipients are Ruby Lambert, Tracey McGuire, Heidi OMalley, Eimear Geraghty, Ciarán Murphy,  Darragh Hoban, Danny Brennan, Conor Meaney, Eoghan Johnson, Fionn OHora, and Cian Grimes.
