The Westport school will take part in the provincial final in early May in their bid to qualify for the national phase

Saint Colmcille's National School qualified for the Connacht final of 'Ireland's Fittest School'

Saint Colmcille’s NS in Westport have been selected as the sole Mayo representative in the Connacht final of the 2025 edition of ‘Ireland’s Fittest School’.

The primary school, located in The Quay, were selected to take part in the event, sponsored by Irish fruit company Fyffes, alongside three other schools from the province.

The students will travel to Ballingare Health and Leisure Centre in Roscommon early next month for their chance to book a place in the National decider.

The Connacht winners, along with their counterparts from Leinster, Munster, and Ulster, will all compete for the title of ‘Ireland’s Fittest School’ in Athlone on Monday, May 19.

The event will be hosted by renowned Olympian David Gillick, and the national winner will receive €8,000 of sports equipment.

Saint Colmcille’s NS will be competing against two schools from Galway and one from Sligo.
