Recently published figures have revealed that over 90% of callouts to Mayo Mountain Rescue occurred on Croagh Patrick.
The figures, released by the group ahead of Mountain Rescue Ireland's 60th anniversary celebration and their AGM, highlight just how difficult yet popular the iconic landmark is for climbers.

Of the callouts, seven were helicopter-assisted, while ten required stretchers.
The incidents ranged from seven head injuries to one hypothermic issue. The most common issue was climber fatigue, with eleven reported instances.
There was one case of a spinal injury, a cardiac arrest, two medical emergencies, and eight lower limb injuries.
To commemorate the important work that Mayo Mountain Rescue undertake and to inspire others to join, the group is holding a celebration of MRI's work and their AGM on Friday evening. The event kicks off on Friday, February 28, in the Westport Woods Hotel and runs over the course of the weekend.
