The people of Mayo are waving goodbye to an icon of Westport(temporarily), as Paddington Bear has been removed for repairs this week.
The bear, renowned for his love of marmalade sandwiches, was installed in November of last year and has become a favourite of locals and tourists alike.

However, in a statement from Mayo County Council, they announced that he would be vacating his home this week to receive some touch-ups.
Paddington Bear is being temporarily removed from his bench on the Fairgreen, Westport today to have some paint touch-ups completed.
