An Port Mór in Westport
A Mayo restaurant has received yet another recognition of their renowned work:
An Port Mór in Westport has been included in the MICHELIN restaurant guide for an impressive fourteenth consecutive year.
"We are thrilled to get the wonderful news," the restaurant wrote on social media: "Chef-Owner Frankie named this permanently popular restaurant after his home village, and there is certainly a welcoming homeliness to the place. It’s tucked away down a narrow town centre alleyway and its cosy interior has a simple, shabby-chic style."

And the restaurant offers two fixed-price menus named after nearby mountain ranges: "The good value Néifinn Bheag and the more adventurous Cruach Phádraig. Both include dishes informed by local produce – such as excellent sea trout – that have a classical base and plenty of flavour.”
The restaurant sincerely thanked everyone in MICHELIN, their team and their customers who make accolades like this possible for them.
The MICHELIN guide as an annual publication was started in 1900 by tyre company Michelin in France to encourage people to get into their cars and travel around the country. Since then the traditional guide has expanded to a global brand.
It is regarded extremely difficult getting a mention in the guide as the criteria are applied very strictly.
