Mayo bikers club raise over 5k for cancer charity

A Mayo bikers club has collected more than €5,000 for the for Daisy Lodge 4 Mayo Cancer Fund for Children.

The West Coast Knights RC rode to Cong last Saturday to present the funds. Shannon McShea from the club's administration team explained speaking to The Mayo News:

"As a riders club this was our first ever fundraiser and we decided to choose this charity as we admire the hard work and dedication that they commit to such a worthy cause. The Daisy lodge is also a local charity in Cong and we were honoured to be able to fundraise for a local charity. On the day over 40 motorcycles showed up and supported us in presenting the funds raised."

The €5,300 were raised by way of bucket collections, buying our merchandise and rounding off the money per item. Club members also collected on the night of their Christmas party held in Hogs Heaven in Castlebar in December.

"We as bikers loved every minute of being able to give something back and show our support. This will be one of many fundraising events we hope," Shannon stated.

"We would also like to give our appreciation to anyone that supported us during the bucket collections and also to the businesses that allowed us to collect at their premises."

The West Coast Knights RC wishes to thank Keegan’s Centra in Enniscrone and Castlebar Mulroy’s on the Dublin Road and Mulroy’s on the Breaffy Road for allowing us to do bucket collections on their premises.
