Westport to Castlebar Road closed after multi-vehicle collision
BREAKING Three people taken to hospital after crash earlier this morning
DIVERSIONS IN PLACE Gardaí on the N5 in Islandeady this morning. The main Castlebar to Westport Road is closed following a multi-vehicle traffic accident.

THE N5 Castlebar to Westport Road is closed at present and diversions are in place, following a multi-vehicle collision earlier this morning. It is understood that several motorbikes were involved in the accident.
Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene, which is on the straight stretch of road between the Halfway House and Joyce’s Garage, and it is reported that three people have been taken from the crash site to Mayo University Hospital.
No time frame has been set on the road reopening as of yet, but motorists are asked to avoid travelling through Islandeady on the N5, as the diversionary routes, which are small local roads, are quite busy at present and delays are being experienced.
The condition of those taken to hospital is not known at this time.
