Temperatures will reach as low as 14 degrees after highs of 25

After days of a stellar heatwave for Ireland, there's "bad news" on the way as temperatures are set to drop dramatically.

Weather updates from Carlow Weather show that cold air is on its way to the country.

"The good news is rainfall amounts for the next seven days look low for most areas. The bad news is the cooler air is coming back," wrote the meteorologist.

According to the week's outlook by Met Éireann, the temperatures are set to drop dramatically as the week progresses.

Today: "Mainly dry with sunshine in midlands and east. Cloudy in southern and western coasts with light drizzle. Warm and humid, 20-25°C, cooler in west and south at 17-20°C."

Tonight: "Cloudy with scattered rain and drizzle. Mist and fog patches. Mild and humid, 11-15°C."

Tuesday: "Cloudy with patchy drizzle moving east. Sunny spells in west and northwest later. 16-21°C, coolest in north and northwest."

Tuesday night: "Patchy rain clears east, turning dry with clear spells. Mist or fog patches. 7-11°C."

Wednesday: "Dry start, showery rain in north and west, southeast may stay dry. Warm, 19-23°C."

Thursday: "Showery rain from west, dry in midlands and southeast. Breezy in northwest, 14-18°C."

Friday: "Scattered rain dies out, becoming dry. 14-18°C."

Saturday: "Patchy drizzle, dry periods. Light southwest winds, mid to high teens."
