Sun shines as west Mayo issues warm welcome to Mark Carney

Canadian Prime Minister visits his ancestral home in Aughagower
The weather Gods have shined for west Mayo this afternoon as beautiful conditions have prevailed for the historic visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark to Carney to his ancestral home.
After a full day of engagements in Dublin on Saturday, Mr Carney and his wife Diana flew into Ireland West Airport this morning, before travelling onwards to Westport House for a meeting with Ireland's President, Catherine Connolly.
From there, it was on to the village of Aughagower, where the Canadian Prime Minister received a raptourous reception from locals, many of whom are closely related to Mr Carney, as both his parental grandparents were born there. Mr Carney then attended Mass in Aughagower Church before visiting the graveyard in the village to see where his relatives were buried.
Mr Carney and his entourage are due later this afternoon to arrive back in Westport for a Civic Reception at Westport Town Hall Theatre.
