It was a special evening for Darragh Joyce and Finbar McLaughlin, as the Mayo men toasted DCU’s
Sigerson Cup Final victory over Dublin rivals UCD at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence on
Wednesday.
Dublin senior inter-county attacker Ethan Dunne was to the fore as the students from North Dublin
triumphed 1-16 to 3-6 to capture their sixth Sigerson crown in East Mayo.

Claremorris defender Joyce had been pencilled in to start at left half-back but was dropped to the bench
in a last-minute switch.
He had featured heavily for DCU across the campaign, starting clashes with MTU Kerry and TUS Midlands. McLaughlin, Westport's flying forward, also featured in the TUS Midlands game, coming off the
bench at half time.
There was also Mayo representation on the UCD side. Sam Callinan, from Ballina Stephenites, made an
appearance from the bench at half-time. However, he and his UCD side left Mayo in disappointment as
they lost their second Sigerson Cup decider on the bounce.
Darragh Reilly from Parke and Ballinrobe’s Diarmuid Duffy were listed among the UCD substitutes.
