A blistering start to the second-half saw Moy Davitts claim both points on offer in this at times exciting clash against Louisburgh on the banks of the River Moy.

Goals from Cathal Clarke and Cian McHale in the first ten minutes of the second period pushed the home side into a nine-point lead and effectively ended the game as a contest.

Sean Kelly had scored a brilliant goal in the 20th minute following an even opening third to the game with Brian Reape, Padraig Ruane and Cian McHale matching scores from Mark Gibbons, Martin Ball and Diarmuid Lally.

Louisburgh had a strong wind at their back in the opening period and Dylan Prendergast got in for two good goal opportunities but couldn't take either as the home side held on for a one-point lead at the break.

Their great start to the second-half was buttressed by points from Oisin McHugh, Reape and Liam Byrne as they took complete control.

However, Moy Davitts wouldn’t score again for 19 minutes following McHale’s goal and they allowed Louisburgh to inch their way back into the contest.

Another goal chance for Prendergast was saved by Chris McGlynn but John O’Reilly got in for a goal with five minutes remaining to give Louisburgh a chance.

A late Cian McHale point quelled any possibility of a comeback however, as James Mulderrig’s side claimed victory.
