Leave No Trace - Ireland’s only Outdoor Ethics Education Programme
Leave No Trace is Ireland’s only Outdoor Ethics Education Programme designed to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation.
Techniques designed to minimise the environmental and social impacts in these areas are incorporated in and promoted by the national Leave No Trace education programme.
Through education, research, and partnerships, the organization advocates for the protection of Ireland's natural landscapes by teaching sustainable practices that minimize human impact.
By following its seven core principles, Leave No Trace Ireland empowers individuals, communities, and organizations to enjoy
the outdoors while preserving the environment for future generations.
With a strong focus on conservation and awareness, the organization plays a crucial role in safeguarding Ireland's rich natural heritage.
Leave No Trace Ireland’s influence is evident in its growing network of members and accredited trainers who spread the message of environmental responsibility nationwide.
As Ireland faces increasing pressures from tourism, urbanization, and climate change, the organization’s work is more critical than ever. By championing sustainable outdoor practices, Leave No Trace Ireland ensures that the country’s cherished natural spaces remain protected and accessible for generations to come.
A national awareness campaign, ‘Love This Place’ runs throughout the summer months and invites individuals and their communities to join in a collective national effort to protect, respect and care for Ireland’s beautiful outdoor spaces and deep wealth of biodiversity and natural outdoor heritage.
The campaign focuses on promoting universal messages of respect and care in the enjoyment of our outdoor spaces. Stick to the Path, Be a Responsible Dog Owner and Keep Ireland Litter-Free.
These universal messages incorporate both courtesy and respect for each other in the outdoors and moderating our actions to protect and care for nature, habitats and biodiversity that are present everywhere and are increasingly vulnerable to the pressures of the visitor numbers that enjoy them.
