Atlantic Technological University (ATU) invites you to explore their flexible learning courses starting in September 2024. These courses are delivered online, blended and part-time, and are designed for working professionals looking to upskill and progress in their careers.
ATU Mayo has an impressive portfolio of flexible learning courses across a range of disciplines, including healthcare, social science, business, outdoor education and more.
These courses are tailored to support lifelong learning and professional development, with the flexibility needed to support the work and personal commitments of learners.
Nursing & Healthcare studies
ATU’s campuses have a long-standing national reputation for delivering high-quality courses in the nursing and healthcare sector. The university recently launched an exciting new part-time postgraduate programme in Gerontology. This multidisciplinary programme emphasises healthy aging in older adults and is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Starting in September 2024, it is co-delivered by ATU Mayo, ATU St Angelas and ATU Donegal, guaranteeing a learning experience from Nursing and Healthcare experts and experienced lecturers.
Dr Justin Kerr, Vice President at ATU Mayo, spoke about the benefits of online learning at ATU.
“ATU is a leader in providing online, flexible and professional development, and for registered nurses and healthcare workers looking to specialise within their field, we have a range of courses to fit around work demands. We provide a strong offering in clinical skills, from Palliative and End of Life Care, Recovery in Mental Health, Nursing Procedural Sedation and more.
"We also provide nursing and health courses in the areas of education and research, digital health, leadership and management, and health and well-being. The majority of these courses are part-time and online, with some on-campus workshops and practical residential days.”
Addressing the skills gap
Courses at ATU are built in collaboration with industry, addressing skills gaps and increasing the employability of graduates.
Eamon Walsh, Head of Department for Online, Flexible & Professional Development spoke about the benefits of online learning at ATU.
“Specialising within your discipline gives you the competitive edge needed to progress in your career and the expertise to stand out in your industry. ATU Mayo provides a range of courses in key growth areas, including an impressive suite of programmes in business, cybersecurity, outdoor education, sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), digital marketing, and more. These study areas have significant benefit for those pursing professional development, but they also provide the opportunity for impactful economic, social and cultural development from a skilled and innovative workforce.”
ATU Mayo also provides a number of Human Capital Initiative (HCI) funded courses, through the HEA’s Springboard+ and Micro-credentials initiatives. Springboard+ courses are heavily subsidized to meet skills demands for industry, offering up to 90-100 per cent funding for learners, while Micro-credentials are short, accredited courses with 50-80 per cent funding, suitable for those seeking to quickly and flexibly upskill in specific areas.
