Mayo's super six all set for new Australian Football season

Aileen Gilroy will play for Hawthorn in the AFLW season which begins on Saturday

Six Mayo women will feature prominently in the upcoming Australian Football League season which kicks off on Saturday. The Mayo contingent will be the largest county representation during a season when 33 Irish players spread between the 18 teams will fight for southern hemisphere glory.

Niamh Kelly (Adelaide Crows), Dayna Finn (Carlton), Sarah Rowe (Collingwood), Rachel Kearns (Geelong), Aileen Gilroy (Hawthorn) and Grace Kelly (St Kilda) will all feature on TG4's weekly matches and highlights which begin on Saturday with deferred coverage of Rowe's Collingwood versus Melbourne at 12.30pm. 

TG4 will broadcast two matches deferred each weekend as well as weekly highlights as part of GAA 2023 on Monday evenings at 8pm.  

TG4's Head of Sport Rónán Ó Coisdealbha said: "The growth of the AFLW has been phenomenal and we are excited to be bringing the best action from Australia to viewers in Ireland each week. With so many players from Ireland competing in the competition it is a great opportunity to showcase this growing sport to a free-to-air audience on TG4."
