While Troy Parrott and the whole Republic of Ireland squad are aiming for win in Prague this Thursday in their FIFA World Cup play-off match against the Czech Republic, RTÉ have unearthed a gem in their archive.

To most of us, Troy Parrott, who plays his club soccer currently for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, would not exactly be known for his gaelic football skills.

But in a video from 2013, which has just resurfaced on the RTÉ website, one can clearly see an 11-year-old Parrott showing off his Gaelic skills.

And he actually helped Mayo win that mini All-Ireland final, staged by O'Connell National School, in the shadow of Croke Park.

One team made up of students were representing Dublin, the other one Mayo. And on this day, it was the Mayo team, which carried the day, helped by a certain Troy Parrott. On a final score of 3-8 to 1-7.

In his after match interview, the Dublin boy left no doubts about his personal allegiance though. Asked who would win the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final due two days later, Parrott confidently replied; "Dublin. Because they are the better team."
