Over the weekend, there was a heavy Mayo involvement as a Connacht FA contingent headed to Donegal for the FAI Amateur Interprovincial Tournament.

The tournament brought together the best amateur ballers across Ireland for a three-day tournament in the north-west.

In total, seven players from three different Mayo clubs were included in the panel by Ollie Neary, the Connacht manager.

Stefan Hester (Castlebar Celtic) started both the Friday evening game against Munster in Dry Arch Park, Bonagee, where Connacht drew with Leinster 2-2.

Johnnie Cocozza, Hester's team-mate with the Super League champions, also started in midfield, with Jamie Cawley of Ballina Town leading the line up top. Luke Kelly and Dylan O'Malley, from Castlebar Celtic and Westport United respectiely, came in from the bench.

Peter Basquelle, Hester's clubmate, was between the sticks for the meeting of Connacht and Munster.

Mark Cunningham, from Castlebar Celtic, lined out at full-back, with Cocozza also in from the start in this one, as well as Kelly.

Cawley was substituted on, but he and his teammates were unable to stop the Munster men running out 3-0 winners in Inishown.

The last day saw Connacht come up against Ulster in Letterkenny. Hester started once more, with Cunningham as the captain on the day.

O'Malley started, while Basquelle, Cocozza, and Kelly were reinforcements as the visitors won 2-0.

In the end, Munster performed best across the tournament to top the table and bring home the silverware.
