One of Mayo’s and Connacht’s most successful football clubs have been dealt with a blow as Castlebar Celtic have confirmed their star striker Jordan Loftus has left to go to Australia.

Loftus who played briefly in the League of Ireland with Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps has been crucial for Castlebar Celtic in the past few seasons as the Castlebar club have recorded plenty of success including winning back to back Connacht cup’s while going the entire Super League season unbeaten last year. Loftus also represented the Mayo side at Oscar Traynor level.

The club have released a statement on Facebook which states “The club’s Senior team made a special presentation to Jordan Loftus as he prepares for his new adventure in Australia. Everyone at the club is truly sad to see him go. It’s never easy losing a club legend, but Jordan leaves behind so many unforgettable memories that will be cherished for years to come. Best of luck, Jordan – thank you for everything, and safe travels.”
