Conn Rangers’ midfielder Michael Lavin has been named in the 22-man Ireland Amateur International squad for the upcoming fixtures later this month.
The Ballymote native, 20, is a former Sligo Rovers Academy player and has earned recognition for his consistent performances in midfield for the Mount Falcon outfit. A strong and competitive No 6, Lavin balances his football career with work in the family’s drapery business.
The Mayo News understands that Castlebar Celtic players Oran Groarke and Mark Cunningham have been placed on the stand-by list, further underlining the strong representation of Mayo talent at national amateur level.
The Ireland Amateur side will have its first outing against an FAI ETB selection in Home Farm, Dublin, on Wednesday, October 29, at 7.30pm.
