Soccer star with strong Mayo links signs for hugely progressive English non-league team

Conor Tee has signed for Real Bedford as they go in search of their fourth promotion in successive seasons.

A former Leicester City youth prodigy who once kicked ball with Breaffy GAA U-8s and also wore the Bangor Hibs jersey has signed for one of English football's most progressive non-league teams.

Conor Tee, whose mother Maureen (nee Deane) is from Bangor-Erris, was Leicester City's Youth Player of the Year in 2018 and scored on his debut for the Ireland U-18 team.

He has gained a wealth of non-league experience in recent years and the 24-year-old signed for Real Bedford this week. His new club are one of the most progressive in the English League, winning promotion in each of the last three seasons.

In 2022 the club was taken over by bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack who stated he intended the club to reach the Premier League from the tenth tier of English football.

In 2024 American cryptocurrency investors Tyler Winklevoss and his twin brother Cameron invested $4.5 million in the club. Days after the investment, the club achieved the second of back-to-back promotions.

In April 2025, the club secured a third consecutive promotion, winning the Southern League Division One Central title. Real Bedford are now in the eighth tier of English football and aiming for the top.

Now, Tee, who donned the Bangor Hibs underage jersey during holidays in Ireland and played Breaffy U-8s with his cousins, John, Pierce and Rory Deane, has joined the Real Bedford revolution after impressing at Brackley Town in the National League North and South Shields in the Northern Premier Division.

He also had a brief spell at AFC Rushden & Diamonds before joining Bromsgrove Sporting where his impressive displays earned him a move to Rushall Olympic.

Tee then joined Halesowen Town in June 2024, scoring 16 goals in 41 appearances in the Southern League Premier Central and now he has signed for the hugely progressive Real Bedford side who will be fighting for their four successive promotion this season.

On joining, the club Tee said, “I'm absolutely buzzing to have signed for such an ambitious club - one whose goals align perfectly with mine. I’m ready to hit the ground running, give everything for the team, and show what I’m capable of.”

His new manager Rob Sinclair is delighted to have the former Irish youth international on his books.

First and foremost, Conor is a fantastic character and a great fit for our dressing room. He’s hungry to succeed, has a brilliant attitude towards his football, and comes in with a real desire to push himself and contribute to what we’re building. On top of that, he brings real technical quality and creativity that will add to our attacking options. We’re really pleased to bring Conor into the football club.”
