AS another weekend goes by in the Mayo soccer scene, plenty of excitement was evident across the games as often is the case.

Here, we’ve tried our best to summarise all the action from the weekend.

Super League

Castlebar Celtic continued their unbeaten run as they made light work of a Manulla side in Celtic Park. Goals from Dylan Edwards, Paul Walsh, Jason Hunt, Luke Kelly and two from substitute Johnnie Cocozza made sure Celtic kept their winning streak going while Cian Benson pulled one back for the visitors. Elsewhere, Westport United won comfortably on their travels as they put six past a goalless Ballyheane side. Evan Durkan, Kevin Kitterick, and braces from Darren Browne and Dylan O’Malley ensured Westport continued their form at the top of the table.

Benson Cup

Westport United kept their goalscoring form going as they put eight past Manulla last Thursday. Darren Browne and Kevin Kitterick had the hosts in the lead at half time with Kitterick adding to Manulla’s misery before a brace from substitute Serhii Morarenko and a hat-trick from playmaker, Dylan O’Malley ended off a fine win in the cup competition for Anthony O’Neill’s side. In the other semi final, Ballinrobe battled their way past neighbours Ballyheane with Henry Hughes grabbing the winner in the 51st minute.

Tuohy Cup

Castlebar Celtic B advanced to the final after a dramatic penalty shoot win over Crossmolina. After the goalless draw, extra time and penalties were needed. Westport United B and Claremorris face off in the semi final this coming Thursday.

Mc Donnell Cup

Achill Rovers overcame Conn Rangers C 3-1 as goals from James O’Hara, Toirlach Dever and Michael Moran were enough to overpower Richard McHale’s Conn goal. Extra time was needed to separate Glenhest Rovers B and Ballinrobe Town B before a late strike from Fionn Mc Hale in the 105th minute was enough to dismantle the Robesiders.

Tonra Cup

On Thursday evening, Ballina B got the better of Partry Athletic thanks to a brace from Sam Monaghan. Cathal Flannery got on the scoresheet for the hosts but Monaghan’s double was enough for the visitors to prevail. Swinford overcame Conn Rangers B after a goalfest in Mount Falcon. Tom Ruane’s first half brace wasn't enough as goals from Thomas John Groarke, Dylan Toner and a hat trick from star man Aidan Dunleavy was enough for the away side to progress.

League One

Conn Rangers B hosted Swinford in the only game in this division. An 82nd minute goal from Evan Rowley enhanced Swinford’s promotion push with a 1-0 win over Joe Faughnan’s side in Mount Falcon.

Mayo FC

Cillian Keating’s goal wasn't enough for Mayo FC's U-14s as they lost out 2-1 to Galway United. The U-15’s suffered a heavy defeat to Galway while Mayo’s U-17’s also suffered a hefty defeat on their travels to Galway. In women’s football, the Mayo U-17’s lost narrowly to Sligo Rovers as Emily Coleman’s early second half equaliser wasn't enough to gain a point. Meanwhile, the Mayo U-19 girls lost out heavily to Athlone on the road
