Claremorris are Under-21 Division Two champions after a resounding win over a spirited Achill Rovers side on Saturday evening. Mark Maloney gave an excellent display at centre forward. He scored one and set up one, and his deft flick was instrumental in turning the Achill defence for another.

Pierce Killeen for the home side and Matthew English for Achill, came close before Maloney got the first mid-way through the first half. Referee Oisín Walsh expertly played an advantage, allowing the Claremorris striker to combine with Ben Smyth, before finishing neatly.

Cathal Maloney made it two half-way through the second half, and a couple of minutes later James O’Hara sent a free kick over after Seán McNamara’s shot was saved by Aidan McGing in the Claremorris goal. After that, Claremorris took over and Jake Mullin, David Heaney and James Sullivan added goals to put the match beyond Achill. Substitute Cian Gallagher came close near the end but Achill were well out of it, at that stage.

Maloney and Mullin were best for Claremorris. Diarmuid Cooney was best for Achill.
