A brave Mayo FC came from behind to rescue a point against Shelbourne on Sunday afternoon.
The away side opened the scoring in the 28th minute when a great ball down the left flank put Shelbourne’s Keithwill Tchouateu in on goal, where he produced a superb finish to the back of the net.
The home side replied within eight minutes of going behind. Mayo FC sent a cross into the six-yard box, where a Shelbourne defender appeared to handle the ball. Noah Mc Gowan stepped up to the penalty spot and calmly slotted home the equaliser.
As the game developed, both sides appeared to create chances with the away side forcing Mayo’s goalkeeper into some excellent saves. As the intensity levels rose with minutes to go, Shelbourne pushed for a winner.
However, Mayo FC defended their goal bravely, and the game ended in a stalemate.
