Finn Harps took advantage of some generous defending from their hosts Mayo FC to claim all three points in a physical encounter this afternoon.

Both sides were reduced to shots from range in the opening minutes in an often cagey affair.

Finn Harps broke the deadlock in the seventeenth minute when Naoise Kavanagh took advantage of some pedestrian defending from the home side and finished with ease from inside the box after Mayo failed to clear the danger. T

On twenty-four minutes Finn Harps were gifted another goal when striker Leighton Green headed in unmarked from a corner to make it 2-0.

Despite the score ine Mayo were giving a good account of themselves and worked hard to remain in the game, with Oisín McCarton and Aron Heaney in midfield putting in some promising displays.

Finn Harps put the tie to bed on fifty-three minutes as Green hit Harps' third and his second of the day after pouncing on some more slack defending from the Mayo backline.
