A Jordan Loftus hat-trick means Castlebar Celtic are on course for a clean sweep of trophies, after their comfortable win over Conn Rangers in the Sunday sunshine of Celtic Park. After this semi-final demolition, they will now play the holders, Ballina Town, on September 8, hoping to add the Calor Gas Super Cup to their league, Connacht and Westaro cups in their centenary year.

Celtic winded Conn Rangers with a goal after five minutes when man of the match, Niall Brennan, met Dylan Edwards’ cross to head past Brian McMahon. Loftus grabbed two in a seven-minute period which was punctuated by the dismissal by referee, Damien McGrath, of Paul Walsh for illegal contact with the shin of Rangers’ captain, Owen McNamara.

Loftus’ first was a tap-in after McMahon couldn’t hold Johnny Cocozza’s shot. The second was from the spot, after Loftus hit the ground under pressure from three Rangers defenders.

Edwards lobbed accurately from distance for the fourth and a four-minute spell saw three goals from Loftus, Keith Mulchrone and Luke Kelly, to underline Celtic’s superiority.
