In Pat Quigley Park, Ballyheane
There have been some great matches in the Super League this season. This was not one of them.
But Ballyheane won’t mind. They secured the points against a Manulla side low in confidence and even lower in ideas. Nathan Reilly-Doyle pulled the strings and got two of the goals. The others came from Adam Blake, Dan Purcell and Ben Edeh.
Manulla had one shot in anger at the Ballyheane target, when substitute, Iago Moura Rocha forced a corner with a thunderous drive from the left. Odhran O’Connor went up for the set-piece and headed home.
For Ballyheane it’s a season in their rebuilding programme, and the youngsters they have introduced are doing well. Manulla are in free-fall but probably have enough points on the board to stay up.
A minute’s silence was observed at the match, for Ballinrobe goalkeeper, Umar Shafiq who died in a car accident in Pakistan.
