Ballina Town have continued their Super League winning streak with a convincing win over a Manulla team that played well for periods but were undone by occasional lapses in concentration.

The hosts - who are now second in the league behind Castlebar Celtic - proved again that they have plenty of goals in them, even without injured striker Benny Lavelle, by shooting three in the first half alone.

A Manulla team missing eleven of their squad played a high-tempo passing game but couldn't get the better of 'Town at midfield, where Danny Gorman and Rafael Cretaro were excellent all evening.

Winger Matthew Cowan opened Ballina's account after being set up by Mayo panellist Dylan McKee in the ninth minute.

Sporting their red and white away kit, the home team had plenty of chances and possession but were made to work against a well-set-up Manulla.

Lightening struck twice in one minute when Ryan Moran and McKee found the net before half-time, giving the Moysiders a 3-0 at the break.

The second half was far more even, with Manulla holding their own much of the time.

However, there was to be no coming back when Matthew Cowan scored his second, and Ballina Town's fourth, in the 49th minute as the North Mayo side saw it out for a nerveless four-goal home win.

A full report plus reaction from the Ballina Town and Manulla camps will be in Tuesday's Mayo News Sport.
