THERE is strong Westport United representation on the Mayo U-21 development soccer team named by team manager Joe Kelly.

The Mayo Oscar Traynor Cup manager will again take charge of a developmental U-21 team that will play a number of challenge matches, with the first to take place on July 28.

Last year, Kelly took charge of a side that played several challenge games against selections from League of Ireland clubs, including Galway United.

Some members of that panel went on to feature on the Mayo squad that reached the Oscar Traynor Cup final earlier this year. Kelly's assistant, Eamonn Daly, is also part of the management setup for this year's Mayo U-21 squad.

A total of eight players from Westport United have been named on the panel while a further three are among five youth development players.

The team is captained by Dan Duffy from Kiltimagh/Knock United while goalkeeper Stefan Hester, a veteran of last year's U-21 side, is named as vice-captain.
