The pupils at Shraigh National School in Erris recently enjoyed a fun-filled outdoor learning day at their local beach, where they explored the shoreline and discovered a wide variety of marine life and seashore creatures.

Pupils at Shraigh National School in Erris recently swapped the classroom for the coast when they enjoyed a fun-filled outdoor learning day at their local beach.

The children are lucky to have a natural classroom on their doorstep, with Shraigh Beach located just a five-minute walk from the school.

As part of their ‘beach safari’, the pupils explored the shoreline, searching for marine life and other seashore creatures. They examined shells and other seaside treasures while learning about the wide variety of plants and animals found along the Irish coast.

There was also plenty of opportunity for creativity, with the children drawing pictures, making prints and writing messages in the sand.

The beach safari provided a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to learn together outdoors, while enjoying the fresh air and supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing. The day was filled with exploration, friendship and plenty of fun.
