Businesses across Mayo are being invited to enter this year’s Business Awards, with applications open from September 1

The search for Mayo’s best businesses gets underway next week as entries open for the Mayo Business Awards 2026.

Organised by Mayo Chambers of Commerce with the support of Local Enterprise Office Mayo, the awards celebrate the innovation, ambition and resilience of local businesses.

Entries open on Tuesday, September 1, with businesses of all sizes and from every sector invited to take part. The closing date is Friday, September 25.

The awards offer businesses an opportunity to gain countywide recognition, celebrate their achievements and acknowledge their staff.

Categories this year recognise excellence across areas including innovation, start-up enterprise, tourism, sustainability, digital excellence, customer experience, hospitality, inclusion and overall business excellence.

The prestigious Neill O’Neill Award and Mayo Chambers Award will also be presented.

John Magee, Head of Local Enterprise Office Mayo, encouraged businesses from throughout the county to put themselves forward.

“Behind every successful business is a story of hard work, determination and ambition,” he said. “The Mayo Business Awards are an opportunity to recognise those achievements and celebrate the businesses that are helping our county prosper.”

This year’s awards will have a strong Erris focus, with the gala event taking place at the Erris Coast Hotel on Friday, November 6.

Brian Bakeberg, President of Erris Chamber, said hosting the awards in Erris reflects the countywide nature of the initiative.

“We are proud to welcome the Mayo Business Awards to the Erris Coast Hotel this November,” he said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase our region while celebrating the outstanding businesses that make such a valuable contribution to communities across Co. Mayo.”

The awards gala lunch will bring businesses from across Mayo together to celebrate excellence, innovation and entrepreneurship, with winners announced on the day.

Entry to the Mayo Business Awards is free of charge.

Businesses can find the full list of categories, eligibility criteria and application details on the Mayo Business Awards website.
