'It's finally coming through' - Mayo rugby star on recent Connacht winning streak

Dave Heffernan just recently returned from a calf injury

Mayo rugby star Dave Heffernan has commented on Connacht Rugby's recent winning streak in the United Rugby championship.

The Ballina man returned from a calf injury two weeks ago and helped Stuart Lancaster's team to extend their run of three wins in-a-row. Heffernan featured in Connacht's big away win to third placed Ulster and the home win over Ospreys.

"We knew we were building something", Heffernan said in a pre-match press conference ahead of Connacht's Challenge Cup knock-out match against Sharks from South Africa.

The five game winning streak in the URC has seen Connacht jump back into full contention for a Playoff spot. They currently sit in ninth place, within playoff position within reach, only one point behind Bulls in eighth place.

The in-form province will fancy their chances to advance to the Challenge Cup quarter-final.

Kick-off in the Dexcom Stadium on Friday evening (April 2) is at 8pm.
