Young Mayo rugby sensation racks up huge personal tally

The St Muredach's squad ran in eight tries in Sligo against Summerhill.

TEENAGE Mayo rugby sensation Conor Connolly scored a remarkable 33 points for St Muredach's College, Ballina in their Connacht Senior A League clash with Summerhill College in Sligo this afternoon.

The talented centre raced over for three tries and kicked six conversions and one penalty as the Ballina students outscored the home side 54-33 in a hugely-entertaining encounter.

Connolly, a Leaving Cert student in the Moyside school, is part of the first-team squad in Ballina RFC and came off the bench in the team's opening round Junior League win in Creggs recently. He wasn't the only St Muredach's player to score big in Sligo today as his centre-partner Tom Ruane also ran in three tries while Cian Fitzpatrick and Anthony Neary also crossed the whitewash.

Conor Moore turned in a Man of the Match display at Number-Eight while young out-half Eoin Golden linked the forwards and backs impressively as the squad coached by Gary Kavanagh, Richard West and Jack Murphy recorded a hard-earned win.
