Mayo Rugby Club set to hold exhibition as 140 year anniversary looms

The exhibition in Castlebar will be open to the public until Friday, October 24.

Events to mark the 140 year anniversary of Castlebar Rugby Club will continue with the opening of an exhibition in the Foyer Gallery of the Linenhall Arts Centre on Friday, September 26.

Mr Willie Ruane, CEO of Connacht Rugby, will officially open the exhibition of club memorabilia and photographs.

Castlebar Rugby Club President Kevin McGing has extended an open invitation to past players to attend the opening: “I am especially hopeful that past players will attend the opening as it will be a forum where stories will be shared and guests can celebrate the long history of our club.”

Mc Ging added: “Rugby in Castlebar has never been stronger than at the present time. Getting the club to where it is today has been a journey, with many sterling players and volunteers adding to the club along the way. The exhibition is an opportunity to remember those who have served the club and to look forward to future successes.”

The exhibition will open at 5.30pm and will be preceded by a wine reception from 5pm. It will remain open to the public until Friday, October 24 at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar.
