Liam (Bill) Jennings, Rookfield, Knock, Mayo RIP
The death took place recently of Liam (Bill) Jennings, Rookfield, Knock, Mayo, and Sonas Nursing Home, Knock.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, nee Carty from Ballygawley, Co Sligo, in May 2023, and their son Tommy who died in February 2025.
Liam (or Bill as he was known locally to many people) was a kind and good natured gentleman who was highly thought of around the region.
He was blessed with a gentle and warm presence that endeared him to many in the neighbourhood.
He had a good word for everyone and had an easy rapport with people because he always made them feel welcome.
Liam loved chatting with friends and neighbours and was a good man to attend local funerals all down the years.
Though in declining health for some time, he retained his great ability to extend the hand of friendship to one and all and was very popular with staff and residents at the Sonas Nursing Home.
Adrian Gildea from Knock was among those paying tribute to Liam.
“I always remember him as being a very sincere and genuine man. May the fond memories you have of him comfort you at this sad time.”
Reposing was at the Marian Funeral Home with removal to St John the Baptist Church, Knock.
Interment took place in Knock cemetery following the celebration of the funeral Mass.
Liam will be missed by his daughter Ann, sons John and Chris, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Sandra, Fiona and Marie, brothers Tom, Jim, Brian, Andy and Vincy, sisters Josie (Maguire), Breege (Cunningham) and Bernadette (Waldron), nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
