The two-bedroom home in Roonagh, Charlestown, where the Oasis frontmen Liam and Noel Gallagher spent plenty of their childhood
A charming cottage on the outskirts of Charlestown has gone on the market, and for Mayo rock and roll fans, it carries a unique connection to one of the world’s biggest rock bands.
The two-bedroom property in Sonnagh on the outskirts of the town was once owned by the maternal grandmother of Oasis frontmen Noel and Liam Gallagher, who spent many of their childhood summers in the county.
The brothers, whose anthems defined a generation, are said to have drawn inspiration from the traditional music sessions of the Charlestown area. Locals recall the Gallaghers enjoying the freedom of the Mayo countryside, soaking up the musical heritage that shaped their distinctive sound.
Recently renovated and impeccably maintained, the cottage extends to 900 sq ft and sits on six acres of land on the banks of the Sonnagh River. Features include an open-plan kitchen and living area with a stone fireplace, two double bedrooms, and extensive grounds containing the ruins of a former corn mill.
With Oasis recently selling out gigs in Dublin, Charlestown takes pride in its link to the Gallagher brothers. For fans, this property represents more than a home; it’s a piece of rock history nestled in rural Mayo.
