Planning proposal lodged for new housing development in Ballina

Mayo County Council have received a planning application for a new residential development in north Mayo.

John and Carina Craven submitted the application which proposes the construction of 47 homes on a site at Mullenmore North and Knockalegan just outside of the town of Crossmolina.

These 47 homes will consist of six semi-detached two-bedroom bungalows, eleven detached three-bedroom bungalows, eight detached four-bedroom two-storey homes and 22 semi-detached four-bedroom two-storey homes.

According to documents submitted to the Council as part of the application, the varied types of homes included in the plans have been chosen to suit all housing needs and to ensure inclusivity.

Indeed, as these documents point out, the housing supply in Crossmolina is not meeting the high demand as in other towns across the country and so such developments are greatly needed.

As part of this application, associated works such as the extension of the existing pedestrian and vehicular access routes as well as the development of internal roads and footpaths are also included.

Car parking, public and private amenities, open spaces, public lighting and other ancillary works are also listed in the application.

Mayo County Council have not yet listed when they are due to give their decision on the application.
