Mayo astronaut Doctor Norah Patten has received an award at the Guaranteed Irish Business Awards.
Dr Patten, who has her sights set on becoming the first Irish person to go to space, was the recipient of the Guaranteed Irish Special Recognition award at the event.

The astronaut was among over 400 in attendance at the black-tie function, which sought to commemorate those who excel in Irish business.
The event was hosted by Mario Rosenstock, who is known for his work on Gift Grub.
Guaranteed Irish CEO Brid O’Connell was full of praise in expressing her admiration for Dr Patten, and labelled her as ‘a great role model’.
The event on Thursday, March 20 capped off a positive week for Dr Patten, who was the Grand Marshal for Ballina’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade three days before the awards ceremony.
