Mayo News tips for Day One of the Cheltenham Festival

Today marks the start of the Cheltenham Festival and it’s the biggest week of the calendar year for those interested in the sport of horse racing.

Starting today (Tuesday), the racing will get underway at 1.20 with the final race each day taking place at 5.20pm. The highlight of Day One is the Champion Hurdle which will get underway at 4pm. The prestigious Cheltenham Gold Cup takes place on Friday afternoon with the four-day bonanza finishing later that day.

Looking ahead to Day One, horse racing enthusiasts Michael Duffy (Editor) and Ronan O’Donnell (Reporter) give their picks as the popular festival gets underway.
