More Gold Medals for West Mayo Pickleball Club

A Mayo pickleball duo has claimed the gold medal in the 'Battle of the Tribes'.

Following the Newport Pickleball Club’s recent success at the Munster Open Tournament, their 60+ men’s doubles champions Michael Groden and Seo McNally, took the gold medals in the new Battle of the Tribes – Men’s Doubles Open tournament.

This was hosted by Galway Pickleball Club on Saturday March 7 in Mervue Community Centre, Galway.

Michael and Seo fought their way through the competitive opening rounds to reach the final. This was a tough contest, and the Newport men fell behind in the early points but then steadied themselves and emerged victorious and took the gold.

It was also new Newport player Joao Fernandes’ first tournament, and he was thrilled to make it through the opening round robin games to the playoff.

Congratulations to Michael, Seo, and Joao, all the other players, organisers, and Galway Pickleball Club for hosting.
