A lifetime of effort will come to a conclusion on St Patrick's night when Ray Moylette enters the boxing ring for the final time. The 33-year-old who brought World and European glory back to Mayo during a glittering amateur career will bring the curtain down on 25 years of ring-craft in front of a packed house in the TF Royal in Castlebar.

His 'Last Dance' was announced just recently, but already the tickets sales are far above expectations and Moylette says he can't wait to make memories in the impressive venue.

Speaking to The Mayo News this week, the former Irish senior amateur champion admitted he's a little anxious, but hugely excited about the big event.

I'm usually not nervous this far out from a fight, but it's different this time. I'm not bad, it's not as if I can't sleep or anything but I suppose I'm aware of the importance of this. People don't remember what happened in the past, all they'll remember is how a man finished and after a lifetime in the ring it means to much to me to go out on a high.”

Moylette famously won gold at the World Junior Championships in Guadalajara in Mexico in the lightweight division and followed that three years later by famously winning the European Senior title in Turkey.

He seemed destined to represent Ireland at the Olympic games and spent six years chasing that dream only to narrowly miss out twice. He fought all over the world as an amateur and then enjoyed a glittering start to his professional career before being beaten by Christian Uruzquieta in December 2018 at The TF Royal, the setting for his upcoming fight.

Although I lost, that was the best night of my boxing life. To come out here in front of my own people and do my best was very special. I'll never forget the atmosphere and the noise. I'm only hoping we can repeat it on Paddy's night,” he explained.

His opponent for the big fight has been named. The Islandeady man will face Jake Tinklin of Wales in what promises to be a blockbuster in front of a packed house in The TF Royal.

Tinklin, who has a solid record of eleven wins from 13 fights, is not just any opponent. Coming off a hard-fought battle with Sean Kelly for the BUI Celtic Light Welterweight Championship earlier this year, the Welsh warrior has proven himself to be a formidable boxer with a heart of a lion.
Moylette is excited about the big night and speaking about his opponent, said: “Jake Tinklin is exactly the kind of opponent I wanted for my final fight. His skill, determination, and heart make him a worthy challenger. I plan to go out there and give a performance of a lifetime.

This is more than a fight; it's the culmination of my journey in boxing, and I couldn't have asked for a better stage than the TF Royal Castlebar on St Patrick's Day. I'm ready to leave it all in the ring for my fans, my family, and for my legacy.”

Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.ie, or directly from 087 7665307. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early to witness what promises to be an unforgettable night in Irish boxing.
