Nancy Coleman
Newtown, Clogher
The death has taken place of Nancy Coleman, Newtown, a cherished member of the local community.
Having been born in a rural community Nancy had a natural affinity with the land and the farming way of life. In years gone by the seasons dictated so much in the countryside areas in former times and people lived their lives in harmony with mother nature.
A warm welcome was given to the visitor as they crossed the threshold into the Coleman home where Nancy enjoyed the social visits of neighbours and friends and she loved to reminisce about times past.
A woman blessed with a strong spirit of generosity, Nancy built strong bridges of friendship with those she met along life’s journey. She lived through a time in Ireland when the goals in life were achieved through hard work dedication and commitment. Blessed with creative and innovative skills Nancy baked beautiful bread, pies and tarts and wove many beautiful garments through her knitting skills.
While she enjoyed working inside her home looking after her children she also looked forward to the occasion when she helped her husband outside with the farm work.
Through her regular reading of the local and national newspapers she kept abreast with news and developments in her locality and further afield. Her funeral took place from Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar to Carnacon Church and after requiem Mass celebrated by Fr Frank Fahey and Fr Jack Garvey she was laid to rest in Drum cemetery.
The large attendance at the funeral home and at the reception ceremony and Requiem Mass reflected the great esteem and regard in which Nancy was held by all.
She is mourned by her sons, Padraic and Seamus; daughters, Maureen Donavan and Patrica Conway; sisters, Kathleen (Donegal) and Noreen (Chicago); and many other relatives and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
