'My son you are my world' - Toddler killed following tragic incident in Dublin named locally

Tributes have poured in following the heartbreaking death of toddler Theo McEnroe who tragically died following a road traffic incident near his home in Dublin on Tuesday.

Little Theo, who is believed to be aged under two, was struck by a vehicle near his home in the Rathmintin area of Jobstown, Tallaght, surrounded by his heartbroken parents Ciara and Shane.

Theo was treated at the scene by the emergency services but he sadly passed away after being taken to hospital.

Theo is survived by his heartbroken parents Ciara and Shane, his loving sisters Isabelle and Fiadh, loving grandparents Amanda and Jerry, Linda, Stephen, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family & neighbours.

Theo's grief-stricken father, Shane, took to social media to express his sadness saying that it "feels like a bad dream".

In the post he said, 

"My son you are my world my boy. I’ll forever love you son I love you so much this feels like a bad dream."

Hundreds of messages of support and sympathy were left under the post with people saying, "I’ve no words my hearts broken for you," and "My heart is shattered for you Shane & Ciara & the girls, life is just not fair! Rest easy beautiful boy you will be greatly missed beyond words."

A candlelit vigil will be held in memory of Theo on Thursday evening in the family's home in Rathmintin where people have been asked to come and "light up the sky for beautiful Theo".

A statement from the Gardaí on Tuesday said,

"Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic incident outside a residence in Rathmintin, Jobstown, Dublin 24 that occurred at approximately 2pm this afternoon, Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

"A male infant was transferred from the scene to Children's Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

"A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has being appointed to support the family at this time."

Funeral Arrangements

Baby Theo will be reposing in O'Dwyer & Sons, on Friday from 2pm to 6pm, for family & friends.

Funeral will take place on Saturday morning, October 11 at 10am, in Saint Thomas' Church, Jobstown, followed by burial to Newland's Cross.
