Irish soccer legend Roy Keane has become a grandfather for the third time, and he marked the occasion with a rare, heartfelt Instagram post that’s quickly won over fans.
The former Ireland and Manchester United captain, known for his famously no-nonsense persona, shared a sweet photo of himself cradling his newborn grandson on Instagram.
In classic Keano style, the caption read: “My new grandson, big baby” followed by a heart emoji.
The post, shared with his 2.3 million followers, has sparked a flood of congratulatory messages and more than a few jokes referencing Keane’s past one-liners.
Fans were quick to draw links to his infamous 2023 Sky Sports quip about Andy Robertson - “What a baby. What a big baby.” - as well as his deadpan reaction a decade ago to the news that Robbie Keane had become a dad: “Yeah, but he didn’t have a baby, did he?”

Keane, 53, and his wife Theresa have five children and are now proud grandparents of three.
While he’s not known for oversharing on social media, the tender moment offered a rare glimpse into the softer side of the Cork legend. And judging by the beaming photo, grandad duties are going down just fine.
