Almost €65,000 raised for the families of the two victims of tragic County Carlow crash

Almost €65,000 (at the time of writing) has been raised for the families of the two victims that lost their lives in the tragic crash in County Carlow last week.

The two men, both aged in their 20s, Bhargav Chitturi and Suresh Cherukuri were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, when their vehicle crashed into a tree on the N80 in Leagh, Rathoe, Carlow at around 1:15am on Friday January 31st 2025.

Both Bhargav Chitturi and Suresh Cherukuri were students of South East Technological University in Carlow and their bodies were taken to University Hospital Waterford for postmortem examinations.

The fundraiser was set up to cover funeral costs for the two men and other financial challenges their families may encounter.

In addition, 15% of the donations will be allocated to the surviving victims of the crash, that suffered multiple injuries but non-life threatening injuries.

Tributes have poured in for the two young men on social media.

One person said, "May they RIP so tragic and unnecessary."

Another person said, "My Deepest condolences. Rest in peace. I worked with one of them guys he was lovely."
