Talk about timing! Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns gives birth on General Election day
Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns announced that she gave birth to a baby girl on Friday, just in time in for polling day!
Cairns shared a picture on Instagram of her holding her new baby, saying: "We’re completely in love with her."

Earlier this week, fellow member of the Social Democrats, Wicklow candidate Jennifer Whitmore praised Cairns for doing "an incredible job" campaigning while pregnant.
Whitmore said: "The Social Democrats are really the face of a changing politics in Ireland. Women have babies, that’s just reality and that’s life, and we have to support them if we want more women to run."
