"Our turf fire now identifies as a solar powered heat pump so the environmentalists can relax!" - Offaly pub posts savage photo in response to turf fire critic.
JJ Houghs pub in Banagher, County Offaly has fired up another hilarious post following their previous viral comments in response to their photo which got criticism for burning turf.
In September, the Offaly pub posted a photo of pubgoers warming themselves by a cosy open fire with the caption: "First fire of the season."
The reason why this post went viral was due to the pub's savage response to a comment from a page called Working Holiday saying: "I see you’re burning turf?! Carbon footprint guys."
JJ Houghs quickly hit back by saying: "It's how we heat the pub. Looking at your page you rely on tourists from abroad coming to Ireland, correct? How do they get here? They hardly swam. How would you quantify and compare the emissions of a Boeing 747 to a small turf fire?

The pub hilariously added: "Maybe think before criticising a small family run pubs turf fire. Maybe call in some day and I'll give you my carbon footprint up your hole."
Now, the pub has posted yet another comical jibe at the comment on their use of turf.
This time, the pub posted a picture of the same two pubgoers by the lovely fire with a sign reading: "Our turf fire now identifies as a solar powered heat pump so the environmentalists can relax!"
