APPEAL: Witnesses sought by gardai after elderly pedestrian is struck by motorbike

Witnesses are being sought after an elderly pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a motorbike at the weekend.

The serious road traffic collision occurred on the N24 at Mooncoin village, County Kilkenny at approximately 7.30pm on Saturday, September 21. 

"The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries. He has since been transferred to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin. No other injuries were reported," said a garda spokesperson.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. 

"Any road users or pedestrians who were in Mooncoin village at the time or who were travelling through on the N24 between 7pm and 8pm and have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí," added the spokesperson.
