Revenue officers seized illegal drugs and contraband, including cannabis, illicit drugs and butane honey oil, worth over €304,000 during the course of numerous operations in Dublin in just one week.
Drugs seized included cannabis edibles and oils, and various tablets.
The retail goods seized included Yves Saint Laurent bags, Prada glasses and Nike outfits.
Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin made the following discoveries, as a result of risk profiling:
The illicit drugs were discovered in parcels originating from the UK, the USA, Canada, Thailand and India and were intended for addresses nationwide.
A quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of approximately €20,000, were also seized due to Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
A spokesperson confirmed that investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
The various quantities of illicit drugs (worth over €14,400) seized comprised: 1.2kgs of cannabis edibles, 55mls of cannabis oil, 221.6g of magic mushrooms, 32mls of synthetic cannabinoids, 300 Ephedrine tablets, 30 Tapentadol tablets, and 905 Benzodiazepine/Diazepam/
The retail goods (worth approximately €20,000) comprised: 1x pair of Adidas sports shoes, 1x pair of Converse sports shoes, 1x pair of New Balance sports shoes, 1x pair of Golden Goose sports shoes, 2x Yves Saint Laurent handbags, 1x pair of Prada sunglasses, 10x pairs of Hermes sandals, 16x pairs of Birkenstock sandals, and 70x pairs of Nike sports outfits.
